In the middle of  XX century notable for its rapid gasification of the country domestic  gas cookers, DHW boilers and other household appliances were manufactured in more than 90 enterprises belonging to various ministers and departments, and the level of output was far from being sufficient. The lack of a co-ordinated policy on the  design and production of domestic gas equipment retarded increase in its production, complicated its operation,  after-sales service and household use of gas, as a result of it.

That is why on 23 October, 1965 according to the resolution of the Soviet of Ministers of the USSR to boost the output and upgrade the quality of domestic gas appliances, the Central Administration of gas equipment enterprises, experimental and repair-mechanical plants (”Glavgazmechzavod”) was set up  and which included 19 plants, the scientific and industrial amalgamation with the experimental base and  testing centre of gas equipment.

On 1 July, 1974 the Central Administration was transformed into the all-union industrial amalgamation “Sojuzgazmashapparat” of the Ministry of gas industry (Mingazprom). It was the only manufacturer of domestic gas equipment in the country, with the annual output equal to 3,5 mill gas cookers, 3 mill cylinders for liquefied gas, 0,5 mill  DHW boilers and 0,5 mill gas heaters.

In full accordance with Decree №1333 of the RF President, “Sojuzgazmashapparat” was turned into OAO “Gazmash” in 1993. It was composed of  6  gas equipment plants and the Testing Centre, the output being equal to more than 600 000 gas cookers and 150 000 DHW boilers.

With constant focus on the high-tech technological innovation of production, OAO “Gazprom” took a decision on full-scale reconstruction of the gas equipment plant, resulting in the construction of state-of-the-art plants manufacturing gas taps and thermostats in Balakirevo, gas cookers and burners in Tchaikovsky, and basic component units for DHW boilers in St. Petersburg.

In accordance with the decision of  the Board of Directors OAO “Gazmash” was reconstructed in 2007. There was fixed capital growth from 190 000 roubles almost up to 1,9 bln roubles. The plants manufacturing domestic cookers, DHW boilers and heaters: “Kanevskoy ZGA” Ltd, “Armavir ZGA” Ltd and Votkinsk gas equipment plant (DOAO “Spetsgazavtotrans” branch), OAO “Gazprom” former affiliated companies, as well as the enterprises and industrial units built in St. Petersburg,  Tchaikovsky (Perm territory) and Balakirevo (Vladimir region) as a result of the joint venture  of OAO “Gazprom” and OAO “Gazmash”, were integrated in OAO “Gazmash” structure. The amalgamation of new enterprises, including the formerly incorporated OAO “Vladikavkaz - Gazoapparap” , OAO “Gazapparat” (St. Petersburg), OAO “Volgogazapparat” (Volgograd), reinforced the position of OAO “Gazmash” as a national leading manufacturer of “white equipment”.

By the present moment a solid industrial and technical foundation has been laid and composite transition to the production of competitive gas equipment and bringing it to the Russian market has been made. As far as technical characteristics and designs are concerned, the new models of gas, electric and dual-fuel cookers, gas-fired DHW boilers and heaters  and other products as well, are in accord with European Standards. As for a price level, it satisfies the demanding consumers’  requirement of all social layers in the country.
